AAI Foundation Launches new Educational Campaign with ISU College of Agriculture

The Agribusiness Association of Iowa Foundation has donated $13,900 to Iowa State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in order to launch a new campaign to train middle school science teachers about scientific solutions to environmental issues.

The program will provide Iowa’s science teachers awareness to agriculture’s role in solving environmental issues. Selected middle school science teachers will spend two weeks at ISU immersing themselves in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences environmental research programs, and learn how to incorporate this information into their science curriculums.

Teachers and their classes will then be invited to ISU for a customized field trip. They will be allowed to browse the College of Agriculture’s research facilities and conduct simplified experiments related to environmental issues.

The goal of this program is to influence individuals that frame the students’ understanding of science and the environment.  The first session is planned for June.
